Yonago Castle was built on Minatoyama, which rises into the depths of Lake Nakaumi. It was built by Kikkawa Hiroie around 1591, and once had a five-story castle tower and a four-story small castle tower (four-story yagura), and was known as "the most famous castle in San'in." All of the buildings were demolished after the Meiji Restoration, and only the stone walls remain today, but the magnificent views of Mt. Daisen and the Sea of Japan that can be seen from the remains of the castle tower remain unchanged.
