Ichinomiya Castle

Ichinomiya Castle

Last update

It is one of the largest mountain castles in Tokushima Prefecture. In 1582, the Chosokabe clan occupied Awa and established their base here to counter Toyotomi's subjugation of Shikoku. It was later the first castle of Hachisuka Iemasa, who entered the country. When Tokushima Castle was completed, it became one of the "Nine Awa Castles" as a subsidiary castle, but in 1638 it was abandoned due to the One Castle per Province Law.
