Located on the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Trail, Ogamian is a soba noodle restaurant built by Nakane Yuma, the owner. Before opening up Ogamian Soba, Chef Nakane used to be a forester. The restaurant is a compelling wooden build that blends well into the surrounding forest providing a calm atmosphere.
Along with a variety of soba noodles from around the country, Chef Nakane makes his own signature soba from scratch. His soba is made up of two simple ingredients: water and local buckwheat. Ogamian Soba’s menu also features freshly made tempura using local ingredients and vegetables that complement both warm and cold soba. If reserved ahead of time, Ogamian has a special menu featuring freshly made seasonal dishes alongside soba, tempura, and a homemade dessert.
When in the area, Ogamian Soba’s welcoming restaurant with homemade food and hospitable service is certainly a worthwhile visit.
