KYOTOGRAPHIE Kyoto International Photography Festival is held for a month each spring in Kyoto, a renowned cultural city. One of only a few international photography festivals in Japan, it will mark its 13th year in 2025. This festival uses around a dozen unique venues scattered across Kyoto every year. Visitors can enjoy walking around the city while touring the exhibitions, which are held in venues that are usually closed to the public. The festival showcases important works and rare photo collections from Japan and abroad at special venues. It also features crafts and cutting-edge technology, drawing from Kyoto's distinctive charm for a photography festival that is truly unique. The 13th Edition will be held from April 12 (Sat.) to May 11 (Sun.), 2025. During KYOTOGRAPHIE Kyoto International Photography Festival 2025, the main festival staff will provide special guided tours of the exhibitions. KYOTOGRAPHIE Kyoto International Photography Festival is held annually. Its directors choose artists from Japan and around the world, focusing on themes that explore social conditions, environmental issues, and diversity in depth. Special staff will explain the theme, artists, venues, and venue design for each exhibition to visitors. We offer both personal guide and tour guide services. Each guide service lasts about two hours. The guide service is in basic English, but we can offer multilingual support upon prior request. If you wish, you can enjoy lunch at a popular temari sushi restaurant where reservations are hard to get. Or you can enjoy sweets from a famous Japanese confectionery shop with a 300-year history, in a room of a wealthy merchant's townhouse built in 1926.

- Meet at 10:00 a.m. for morning programs and at 1:00 p.m. for afternoon programs.
- Tour Schedule
- - In the morning: Meet up at 10:00 a.m. in front of the Cultural Museum. There will be a 10-minute orientation about KYOTOGRAPHIE. Then, we will walk to visit the Cultural Museum, Kondaya Genbei, and the Shimadai Gallery with special explanations by our staff. After that, we will move to Hachikuan to enjoy lunch or tea time. - In the afternoon: Meet up at 1:00 p.m. at Information Machiya (Hachikuan TBC). During lunch or tea time, there will be a 10-minute orientation about KYOTOGRAPHIE. Then, we will walk and visit the Cultural Museum, Kondaya Genbei, and the Shimadai Gallery with special explanations by our staff. After that, the tour finishes.
