If you drive further south from the Mount Wakakusa summit parking lot, the view changes to a dense, ancient forest in Mount Kasuga. Hunting and logging were banned here a long time ago, allowing giant trees to grow. Many young trees were planted to be used as sacred trees in the distant future. This area lets you feel the workings of nature and the flow of history.
