Awaodori Kaikan
A cultural center that offers displays and performances related to the traditional dance of Awa Odori. The concept is to make Awa Odori, which is held every August during Obon, into an experience that people can enjoy throughout the year. 1. Odorana-son-son Awa Odori ("You'll miss out if you don't dance Awa Odori") You can enjoy it year-round, regardless of the season or weather. This show features a performance by Awa no Kaze, the resident troupe of the Awa Odori Hall. The powerful and vibrant Awa Odori you see before you is sure to draw you in. 2. Awagin Bizan Ropeway: Bizan, a symbol of Tokushima that was mentioned in the Manyoshu. As the Japanese character for "eyebrow" used in the name suggests, it has a gently curved shape like an eyebrow. It takes about six minutes to reach the station at the summit, which is 290 meters above sea level, from the mountain base station. While listening to the onboard announcements, you can see the city of Tokushima from the train window. On clear days, you might be able to see as far as Awaji Island and the Kii Peninsula. 3. Awa Odori Museum: The Awa Odori Museum showcases the origins and history of Awa Odori. In the Experience Corner, you can play instruments in a game format and see yourself dancing at the forefront of a group on a life-size screen. In the VR you put on special goggles that allow you to feel the thrill of the Awa Dance Festival with 360-degree footage.
