Guided tour of the Maizuru Repatriation Memorial Museum with a storyteller
The Maizuru Repatriation Memorial Museum passes down the history of post-war Siberian internment and repatriation, and spreads a message of peace. Inside the museum, you can see the letters that kept prisoners connected with their families faraway. Clothing and handmade items give a glimpse into the harsh life of the prison camp. Other exhibits include firsthand accounts and interactive experiences recreating the camps. The museum aims to make history vivid and moving, even for younger generations who have no experience of war. Storytellers are always on hand to guide visitors, talking them through the ideas behind the materials. On weekends and holidays, we offer a guided storyteller tour at certain times. During weekdays, visitors can freely approach the storytellers and ask for explanations on things that interest them, whether about the venue as a whole or just certain areas. You can choose what works best for your schedule and preferences. For groups wishing to learn in depth about peace, we offer programs with talks by curators and other museum staff in a separate room. Use it for training trips and educational tours. We offer various programs for educational tours. These include hands-on experiences, picture story shows, guided tours for small groups, and interactions with middle and high school students who are involved with the museum.
