Otsu-e Art Museum and Enman-in Shinden [Temple visit]

Otsu-e Art Museum and Enman-in Shinden [Temple visit]

In the early Edo period, paintings of gods and Buddha were sold along the street as lucky charms for travelers passing through Otsu, one of the fifty-three stations on the Tokaido Road. These works are now on display in the art museum. The museum also features Shinden, an important cultural property received from the Kyoto Imperial Palace, and Mii Garden, a designated scenic spot and historic site. Its various shrine stamps are also popular.
