Winter hunting and game meal experience in Keihoku, Kyoto
Experience winter hunting and wild game cuisine in the Keihoku mountains of northeast Kyoto. Hidekazu Imai, the only professional wild game hunter in the Keihoku area, will accompany you and explain the hunting culture of the area, how landowners prevent animals damaging crops and trees, as well as the traps used for hunting. You will go out into the countryside, check the traps, and watch the process of butchering any animals that have been caught. For lunch and dinner, you will try different types of game meat and enjoy Japanese game dishes such as wild boar hotpot. On the first day, you will also visit Haneda Shuzo, the only sake brewery in the Keihoku area, for a sake tasting experience.
