At tonaru SETO, a tourism facility located in northern Naruto City, Tokushima Prefecture, guests can enjoy performances of the Awa Odori dance, a performing art of Tokushima that has over 400 years of history. In addition to Awa Odori, guests can try their hand at raft fishing on the tranquil waters of the Uchinoumi Sea. This facility was renovated from the former Seto Elementary School/Preschool that was designed by famous Japanese architect Tomoya Masuda, and it operates under the concept of "learning and inspiration resonate together." The former gymnasium has been repurposed into Japan’s first permanent circular stage. In addition to watching an Awa Odori performance, guests have the chance to join in on the fun and dance together with the performers. For those who enjoy something quieter, the fishing experience carries guests from the nearby harbor to the Uchinoumi fishing rafts that lay waiting on the calm waters. All of the equipment is provided, so there is no need to prepare anything in advance. An instructor is present to explain the fishing basics, and afterwards guests can even try filleting the fish they catch. No matter which activity, guests can fully experience all that Naruto has to offer at tonaru SETO. This building itself is also an architectural work of art, blending in and harmonizing perfectly with the natural surroundings. Come and visit tonaru SETO and enjoy a special moment amid beautiful nature and art.
