Umenoyado Brewery

Umenoyado Sake Brewery was founded in 1893 at the foot of Mount Katsuragi and Mount Nijo in Nara, a city rich in nature located southwest of the Nara Basin. While honoring the traditional sake of Yamato with its long history, our goal is to cultivate a new sake culture that captivates people from different countries and cultures by offering diverse ways to enjoy sake. We have also been working on reforming the work environment of brewery workers in order to keep up with the times. In 2017, we abolished the traditional system of having a toji (master brewer) oversee the sake brewing process, and instead started having our own employees brew the sake.The new brewery, which was relocated in 2022, is equipped with the latest equipment and offers content for visitors to experience the human connection and warmth that are at the heart of sake production.
