Experience creating sustainable tea and flower ornamental plants with the aroma of Japanese tea (Uji tea).
With its workshop located in Uji City, Kyoto, Chawaka creates a new type of flower arrangement that takes colorful preserved flowers and places Uji-cha green tea leaves within them to create a lovely aroma. These are fine brand-name tea leaves that did not pass the tea planters' strict quality standards and thus were not used for tea. Combining this with the power of the artist, these creators thought it might be possible to discover a new role for these leaves as a fragrance to enhance people's enjoyment of flowers. This idea is what led to the birth of Chawaka in Uji City, Kyoto. In this hands-on activity, you can select any flower and tea you like to try out creating your own Chawaka flower, in addition to creating flower tea leaves to enjoy in a tea incense burner. (The tea incense burner is included in the activity. / Standard selling price of 4,950 yen.) Also, since it's so hard to actually go visit tea fields, you can use VR to watch farm workers pick tea leaves and even walk around a factory. "We are committed to our responsibility to use in Uji the products we make in Uji." (SDGs No. 12). We aim to provide a second act for Uji tea, a high-end tea that is the pride of Japan and a famous Kyoto product.
