All about WASHI in Ayabe
One of Kyoto prefecture's two traditional handmade washi paper producers – Kurotani Washi – offers this washi postcard-making experience and workshop tour. After lunch, there is also a mochi-making experience using the leaves that can't be used to make the kozo pulp that goes into washi paper. Sit and chat with the local women's group as you use a pestle and mortar in the pulp-making experience.
