International students studying in Osaka say they chose Osaka because the city is easy to live in and the people are kind! Well, that’s what they say. Why is that? The Osaka Tourism Bureau has been working hard to transform Osaka into the No. 1 International Student Destination in Asia by making sure Osaka is a place where it’s easy to learn, easy to live, and easy to work. At the end of October 2021, around 1.73 million foreign laborers were working in Japan. (*According to figures released by the MOHLW) This number has grown year after year, and when the next generation of citizens enters society it may very well be a given that at least half of the people in each workplace are foreigners. Learning together with international students exposes Japanese students to a wide range of values and ways of thinking, and is one of the many ways in which we can band together to make the Brilliance of Life proposed by Osaka Expo 2025 a reality.
