When the Akoya pearl oysters are in their crucial stage of nurturing pearls, the water temperature must be 13 degrees Celsius or higher, plankton must be plentiful, the tides must be favorable, and the waves must be calm. Ago Bay is home to numerous pearl farms because of its compatibility with these conditions.
