The Echizen Daibutsu Giant Buddha at Daishi Zansei Daiji Temple in Katsuyama City, Fukui Prefecture is the tallest seated Buddha statue in Japan. For just one hour after the temple gates are opened and one hour before the gates are closed, an "artificial sea of clouds" is generated and visitors are given a special chance to witness it. These artificial clouds create an enchanted atmosphere that makes the location a new tourist destination in the Hokuriku area. Moving forward past the front of the Great Buddha Hall where the artificial clouds are generated, you'll find yourself inside the hall filled with a grand and sublime atmosphere. Inside the Great Buddha Hall is the Echizen Daibutsu Buddha statue itself, which is the tallest seated Buddha statue in Japan. It is surrounded by many other Buddha statues of varying sizes. In addition to the Great Buddha, you can also view the scenery of Katsuyama from the five-storied pagoda and enjoy a moment in the Japanese-style garden.
