The Umeda Sky Building Kuchu Teien Observatory is an Osaka landmark managed by Sekisui House Umeda Operation Co., Ltd. from the Sekisui House Group, a major housing development corporation. Underneath this building is a non-public boiler room called the "Machine Zoo." It contains machinery from major manufacturers that supply electricity to the entire building, stores backup power sources for emergency situations, and works to lower CO2 emissions as well. Adjacent to this towering building on both sides are the "New Satoyama Area" park, flowing streams, and a "Chinju no Mori" (shrine forest park) where fireflies can be seen in the right season. In this way, just a little effort from people can create natural scenery in the heart of the big city, enabling people to co-exist with nature.
