"Ama diver culture" is recognized as a Japanese Heritage. At the "Ama Hut Satoumian," which is modeled after the "The Ama Hut'' used by divers to prepare for fishing and rest, there are three buildings of different types, where visitors can enjoy meals with the hospitality of divers dressed in white beach clothe "Isogi."
Dining while listening to the stories of ama fishing and the sea will be a special experience that you will not find anywhere else. As soon as you step inside the hut, the sound of the crackling charcoal fire and the fresh seafood from the Ise-Shima area served in a basket will first delight your eyes and ears. Once seated around the" Irori" (hearth), actual ama divers will grill and serve the seafood right in front of you.
In addition, there is also an Ama Divers' Museum on the premises, where visitors can view exhibits of tools used by divers in their fishing operations. Visitors can also try on Amagi (women diver outfit) costumes and enjoy them before or after dinner.
Actual Ama divers, active or retired, will entertain you.
