The first chef, an oil retailer, started this tempura restaurant in 1850 as a side business. Since then, the ensuing five generations have carried on, making this one of the best traditional restaurants in Osaka, enhancing its special history. The restaurant is known for serving prominent VIP guests from all over the world.
With the restaurant situated in the business district in Osaka City, your extraordinary experience begins as soon as you step onto their property. The proprietress (okami) welcomes you with kind smile. Each waitress (nakai) is assigned to a specific group and serves tea at the waiting room. This relaxing time helps you to unwind before the meal. After the teatime, you will be led to a private traditional Japanese room with a hori-kotatsu floor (pit-style). The first course of tempura kaiseki ryori (multi-course Japanese dinner) is served here, which includes sakizuke (bite-size appetizers), hassun (a second dish with a seasonal theme), and seasonal sashimi, etc.
Then, you move to another exclusive room dedicated only for making tempura, with a deep fryer set at the counter. You can taste various fresh tempura which specialized chefs prepare right front of you.
