Located at the base of Gongenzaki jutting out from the northern coast of Shirarahama, historic Kumano-sansho Shrine enshrines the Kumano Sanzan (Kumano-hongu-taisha Shrine, Kumano-hayatama-taisha Shrine and Kumano Nachi Taisha Shrine). The Reitaisai (Regular Festival) is famous for dedication of Shishi-mai Dance (Lion dance) and Shirashide (A white wooden wand decorated with two zigzag paper streamers) parade by shrine parishioners.
