Tennoji Zoo
[Ecological exhibition on the relationship between animals and nature.]
Osaka Municipal Tennoji Zoological Garden keeps animals of about 200 species, including lesser pandas and polar bears. The zoological garden aims at 'ecological exhibitions' that demonstrate how animals and nature are interrelated, by recreating actual habitats of animals.
The recently completed I FAR (Invertebrates Fishes Amphibians Reptiles) Live Reptile House is the first facility based on this idea.
Here, crocodiles and turtles live side by side with birds, fish and aquatic insects, forming a near-natural environment.
