Kami Town Geopark and Maritime Culture Hall
【Description】
On the first floor, you can find out what San'in Kaigan Geopark is about. Discover how the Japanese archipelago was formed after its separation from the Asian mainland about 20 million years ago, and explore how the town of Kami's culture, lifestyle and cuisine has been influenced by the local geology and topography. On the second floor, you can learn about the culture of the fishermen in the Kasumi community that developed with a close connection to the sea. In addition to insights about the history of the domestic trade ships from the samurai era, traditional fishing gear, and how to fish for crab and squid, you'll find taxidermy mounts of marine life that inhabits the Sea of Japan.
