A popular river for kayaking near Kyoto, great for beginners
The JR San'in Main Line from Kyoto Station runs along the west side of the Hozugawa River to Kameoka Station. From here, visitors can board the popular Hozugawa River Boat Ride. A bus from the station leads to the riverside meeting point, where visitors will find complete sets of kayaking equipment for hire. A river kayaking session for beginners takes about 4 hours.
