【Description】
Archaeologists estimate that this burial mound dates back to the mid-7th century, late in Japan's "kofun" period when building such tumuli was common practice. In 1978, a mural was discovered on the back wall of a horizontal stone chamber constructed from cut volcanic tuff. The chamber is now closed except for once a year, in order to preserve the mural.
