The frequent rain and humid air in the Tango area make the climate perfect for producing silk, an enterprise that is more difficult in dry air. This corner of Japan has long been a center of the textile industry. Amino Shrine, a nationally designated cultural property, is home to a smaller shrine in the complex, Kori Shrine, where a deity of textiles and sericulture is worshipped. The Amino Choshiyama Kofun burial mounds are located on high land on the south side of the town.
