Enjoy your own unique outdoor bath at Kawayu Onsen, one of the few such places in Japan.
Here, the waters of Oto River, a tributary of Kumano River, mix with the constant natural springs of more than 70 degrees Celsius arising from the riverbed, creating the perfect temperature for a bath. In the summer, it’s great for keeping your body warm after playing in the river, while in the winter, visitors can take a dip in the expansive Sennin-buro River Bath. Symbolic of winter in the area, the Sennin-buro River Bath is open from December until February.
