Shoshazan Engyo-ji Temple—Transcribing Petal Sutras
In Buddhism, transcribing Buddhist texts and sutras is known as shakyo, and the practice is said to have divine merits. Visitors needn't worry about the difficult Chinese characters, as each character can be traced. Focus your mind on writing each character as you pray. In addition to the casual petal sutra course, there is also a more authentic heart sutra course that takes around an hour (1,000 yen).
