Sukyo-ji Temple
Enkaku-zan Sukyo-ji Temple is also known as Takuan-dera for being in the hometown of Takuan Soho, a prominent monk in Rinzai Zen Buddhism. The Crane-Turtle Garden and the Heart Character Pond were his designs. Reportedly, he also planted the butterfly wabisuke camellia flowers himself. Soho stayed at the temple for eight years from the age of 48, during which time the Toenken hermitage was built.
