[Know the archaeological success of Nakayama Shuichi.]
Shuichi Nakayama dedicated his life to unearthing the Nagaokakyo. Until then, the Nagaokakyo was known as "the phantom capital", because there seemed to be few traces of those glory days. And, to honor Nakayama's numerous archeological successes, the city opened a memorial museum in his honor in 2002. The museum exhibits his treasured effects and books as well as his books and research results, etc.,related to The Nagaokakyo. The museum has become one of the stops along a historical course that takes in the Saigoku Kaido Road and Shoryuji Castle Park, Starting from JR Nagaokakyo Station.
