Shoshazan Enkyo-ji Temple
Shoshazan Enkyo-ji Temple is located approximately six kilometers northwest of the world heritage site and national treasure, Himeji Castle. It is one of Harima’s most famous temples, and has fascinated people throughout its more than 1,000 years of history. Not only is it an ascetic dojo for the Tendai school of Buddhism, it is the 27th stop on the 33-temple Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage, and thus continues to be a central location of worship.

[Access] Approx. 30 min. on the Shinki bus from Himeji Station on the JR Sanyo Line (or from Himeji-jo Otemae bus stop) to the Shoshazan ropeway terminal → approx. 4 min. on the Shoshazan ropeway to Sanjo Station → approx. 20 min. walk to the temple (minibus available [500 yen return])
