This waterfall is one of three in the Aoyacho-kachibe area that flows from the heart of Mt. Otaki, a sacred mountain of the San'in region. The protective Buddhist deity Fudo Myo-o, whose name translates to immovable, is worshipped here. Another name for the falls, Ichinotaki, means 'first waterfall'.
