This two-layer round tumulus is around four meters high. The upper layer measures 9.4 meters in diameter, while the terrace-shaped lower layer is around 14 meters in diameter. On the walls inside the stone chamber are paintings of four ancient divine beasts, and what is thought to be the world's oldest astronomical painting, among others. At the Kitora Tumulus Mural Experiential Museum Shijin no Yakata, visitors can learn about the tumulus and its murals.
