Ishikiri Tsurugiya-jinja Shrine is located to the east of the Osaka Plain at the foot of Mt. Ikoma, and is affectionately known as Ishikiri-san. The official name of the shrine, Ishikiri Tsurugiya, derives from the belief that the deities enshrined within are so powerful that they can cut through rock. The prayers and incantations offered at the shrine, and its ohyakudo-mairi (one hundred prayer) ritual, are particularly famous, and huge numbers of people flock here from across the country to seek the blessings of the deities.
