Muroji Temple is located in Uda City, Nara Prefecture, and is the head temple of the Muroji school in the Shingon sect. The wooden five-story pagoda, designated both a National Treasure, is the smallest five-story pagoda in Japan. As this temple has allowed female devotees since ancient times, unlike the temples on Mt. Koya, it was known as the Nyonin Koya (Koya for Women). (Image provided by Nara Visitors Bureau)
