Kyoto National Museum houses thousands of archaeological materials and antiques from Japan, China and other Asian countries. The exhibition, preservation and research of cultural properties are carried out here. Nearby is the Sanjusangendo Temple, well-known for its 1,001 statues of multi-armed deities.
