Kajitori-zaki Point
The Kajitori-zaki Point is a cape of a cliff made of a sandstone layer of the Kumano strata that sticks out to the open sea of Kumano-nada. The marine terrace that extend to the cape was formerly a flat surface formed in the glacial period (120-130 thousand years ago) that got elevated up to an altitude of 60m by the enormous earthquake in the Nankai trough. You can observe sedimentary structures and traces of hydrothermal activities, along with trace fossils at the foot of the cape.
