The Tomyo-zaki Point is a cape of a cliff made of a sandstone layer of the Kumano strata that sticks out to the open sea of Kumano-nada. Just like Kajitori-zaki, a marine terrace stretches out behind the cape. There used to be a Japan’s first lighthouse that used whale oil as fuel in a paper lamp.
