Okuto Sake Brewery Museum
This museum, still an operational sake brewery, has been run for about 400 years by the Okuto family whose members once served the community as village headmen. It has also been preserved as a factory for over 300 years, and the museum is part of this factory building, with a beautiful exterior of dark-brown vertical wood siding and bright white walls with white-wooden-barred windows. The items exhibited here include both brewing implements and everyday tools, as well as documents from the shipping merchant business. Visitors can also sample the local sake, Chushingura, here.
