This puppet theater drama has been passed down since the early Meiji period. After an Osaka Bunrakuza performance in 1951, they were privileged to study under Kiritake Monjuro, a Living National Treasure puppeteer, who granted the name Aioi Bunraku. In 2000, the village of Shinden, with seventeen households and a population of fifty, formed an NPO called "Shinden Village Planning Committee" to work on its preservation and transmission.
