Osaka/Umeda
5 Feb 2020
The Umeda area (a downtown area along with Namba in Osaka) is comprised of six stations; the JR "Osaka Station", Hankyu "Osaka-Umeda Station", Hanshin "Osaka-Umeda Station", Osaka Metro Midosuji Line "Umeda Station", Tanimachi Line "Higashi-Umeda Station" and the Yotsubashi Line "Nishi-Umeda Station”.
Transferring between JR Osaka Station and Hankyu, Hanshin and Osaka Metro stations is within walking distance. While the underground shopping arcade connecting these stations is complex and may be difficult to understand at first, there are signs on the ceiling, walls and floor directing passengers to each station.
Each of the three Osaka Metro lines has its own color; red for the Midosuji Line, purple for the Tanimachi Line and blue for the Yotsubashi Line. All signs are displayed in English or include images to avoid confusion.
For sightseeing information, the "Tourist Information Osaka"center located in front of the central ticket gate of Osaka Station is a good information source for Osaka sightseeing tips.
Next door to it is the "Travel Service Center Osaka” office which offers luggage storage and delivery service to hotels, to enable easy sightseeing. The "Hankyu Tourist Center Osaka-Umeda” near Osaka Umeda Station (Hankyu Railway) provides tourist information on areas along the Hankyu Railway.
You can also get round Umeda by bicycle or bus.“Umegle-Chari"is a rental bicycle service where bikes can be rented 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to cycle around Umeda. We recommend the "Umegaru Bus"which circles Umeda in 30 minutes.
Highway buses also run from JR Osaka Station to various locations. Should you want to take the highway bus to Kansai International Airport, the bus cane boarded from Herbis Osaka, Hotel New Hankyu Osaka and Hilton Osaka etc.
