Hanzei-Tenno-Ryo Tumulus

A keyhole-shaped tumulus located on the northern edge of the Mozu Tumuli Cluster. At approx. 148m in length, it is small for an mound interring an emperor. Built somewhere in the middle of the 5th century, the existence of two further ""baicho"" tumuli and a double moat has been confirmed. It is one of the three Mozu Ryo, and is also known as the Mozu no Mimihara no Kita no Misasagi.
A keyhole-shaped tumulus located on the northern edge of the Mozu Tumuli Cluster, with the front section pointing south. It is currently managed by the Imperial Household Agency as the North Ryo of the Mozu Mimihara Three Ryo: Nintoku Tenno Ryo. The tumulus mound itself has an approximate total length of 148m, with a 76m diameter and 13m high circular rear section and a 110m wide and 15m high straight front section, making it the seventh largest in the Mozu Tumuli Cluster. At around a third of the size of the Nintoku Tenno Ryo Tumulus, it is small a mound interring an emperor, the reasons for which are unknown. With the mound divided into three layers, and from their shape and excavated haniwa clay figures, it is thought to have been created in the middle of the 5th century. It currently have a single shield-shaped moat, but excavations in the vicinity have confirmed that it once had a double moat.
